Detailed safari Itinerary:
Day 1 – 4: Shinde Lagoon, Okavango delta – Shinde Camp (3 nights)
On arrival into Maun, you will be met and transferred by private charter to Shinde camp where you will spend your first three nights.
The camp: Nestled on a lush palm island in the heart of the northern Okavango Delta, Shinde is an intimate camp located on the edge of Shinde lagoon, teeming with animal and birdlife. The main camp’s unique tree house made of a multi-tiered raised dining/lounge area under canvas, set amongst the shade of ebony and mangosteen, complements the atmosphere of this original safari camp.
Shinde comprises of eight twin bedded classic safari tents each with en-suite bathrooms, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. Every possible comfort has been catered for – from generated electricity and a private viewing deck through to a handy flashlight! Each tent, strategically positioned, offers splendid views, whether across the Delta’s mysterious waterways or open grasslands. Accommodation is generally twin share on comfortable three quarter beds, however double accommodation is available on request.
The area & activities: Shinde offers a diverse range of activities, having the ideal location affording both water and land activities throughout the year. Powerboats or mokoro provide a chance to experience the incredible bird, plant and reptile species found in the aquatic habitat of the Delta. Game drives are conducted in comfortable, specially designed vehicles together with a personal guide. Guided walks are also available for the more adventurous. For the fly fishing enthusiast, Shinde offers fishing for a variety of species such as tilapia and tiger fish.
Day 4 – 6: Xakanaxa Lagoon, Moremi Game Reserve: Okuti Camp (3 nights)
After breakfast you will be taken on a game drive through Moremi reserve to Okuti airstrip where you will meet your air charter and you will fly to camp Okuti, for the next 3 nights of your safari.
The camp: This delightful camp lies alongside the Maunachira River that flows through Xakanaxa Lagoon within the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve. Offering a welcome touch of comfort, Okuti has recently been rebuilt amidst the wilderness of one of Botswana’s prime game viewing regions.
Okuti comprises five twin-bedded units, each with en-suite bathrooms, shower and bath, hot and cold running water and flush toilet. An additional two family units consist of two rooms that share spacious bathroom facilities – ideal for families in this child-friendly lodge.
Okuti’s spacious curved ‘tents’ are located on raised teak decks, and each features a balcony with a river views, and an outside –and completely private – bath for the chance to luxuriate under Botswana’s azure skies.
The area: Situated in the heart of the world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, guests can experience unhindered views in specially designed safari vehicles. Moremi Game Reserve is rich in wildlife, and its consistent year-round game viewing makes it ideal for the first time visitors to Botswana. Day 6- 8: Linyanti Swamps, Chobe Enclave - Linyanti Bush Camp (3 nights)
After an early morning activity at Okuti Camp you will game drive through the reserve to the airstrip where you will connect with your charter flight to Saile airstrip. Upon your arrival at Saile airstrip you will game drive through the Chobe Enclave to Linyanti Bush Camp for the next three nights of your safari adventure.
The camp: Linyanti Bush Camp is a small, intimate 12 bedded tented camp on the banks of the Linyanti marshes in a private reserve, which borders the western boundary of Chobe in the Chobe Enclave. The camp is limited to small exclusive groups who seek a personalized experience in a private concession away from the main tourist’s routes. The area is best known for its large populations of Elephant and buffalo that congregate in vast numbers especially during the dry season. Lion, sable, roan, leopard, wild dog, and a number of the plains game can be enjoyed at Linyanti. The rare and elusive sitatunga antelope, red lechwe, hippo and crocodile can be found in the surrounding marshes. The Linyanti Swamps are one of the most attractive areas in the park as it is the only source of water in the dry months where a lot of the wildlife moves to, boasting a great diversity of game and a restful atmosphere. The area’s relative remoteness makes it a favored wild safari destination and one of the best sought after areas in Northern Botswana. The area also offers spectacular birding all year round and is best known for its enormous herds of elephants which move down to the Linyanti River at the start of the winter months and only move back inland once the main rains arrive. Day 8: Linyanti Bush Camp – Maun / Kasane
After a delightful activity at Linyanti Bush Camp, you will game drive through to the Saile airstrip for your charter flight to Maun or Kasane airports, for your onward travel arrangements.
